Original VS re-pro steering wheel

Anyone have any details on the original AC steering wheels used 1966-67

were there any changes between 64-67.. Any special markings, details to help me to verify if i have a genuine one fitted to my car..

correct size 15-16?
spoke thickness etc etc

Thanks

wooden rimmed steering wheel

The big differences lie in the "wood" used. Original rack and pinion steering system car steering wheel assemblies had no maker’s mark or text on them.

Based on the hundreds of original Cobra and 427 Cobra steering wheels that I have looked at, the car production period plywood made of alternating types of wood, that created the two color layers appearance, was not as precision as plywood used since at least the 1980s. The light and dark colors of wooden plies in original production wheel rims are of various thicknesses, in relative terms some thin and some thick.

care to elaborate on that a little... At least i'm in there the rim is made of "wood" ;-)

From what I know the original size was 16 inch (pretty sure for 427 cars - not so sure for 289 cars)

Yes, 16" on the small block rack and pinion cars. I'm not 100% sure about the size on the W&S cars as the wheel was different.
