Thickness main tubes of org. 427 Frame
Hi everybody,
i am currently working on a CAD model based on CR 427 Cobra Chassis blueprints. I can't find the thickness information of the main "rails" in the blueprint. The diameter of the end caps is the same like main tubes. Aren't the end caps larger? can somebody help me out? thx |
See Below.... :)

The frames were not measured using the metric system, being that they were made in England and used imperial units as their form of measuring.

If my memory serves me right the originals 4 x .095 inch Welded tubing the end caps 4 1/4 od x .125.

Sorry i couldn't login for a while.
@CompClassis I am building the model with imperial units. @Tjd Thx for the information, because the end caps in the prints are 4 x 0.120 |
FYI, the original Shelby Cobra 427 SC had 4" tube frames of 0.95" in wall thickness, whereas the Continuation Shelby Cobra 427 SC's had 0.125 wall thickness 4" tube frames.

.095" wall thickness. .95" would have been a little on the heavy side!

Most tubing is spec to a gage . 11 ga tubing is .119. 10 ga is .134. I have never been able to get .125 tubing. That being said most could not tell the diff between .119 and .125 without using a mic.
