AMCO luggage rack for sale

Is the "For Sale" page working????????

I have now tried 3 times to post an ad and I keep getting a "Page not working" error message after I click "Submit".

If the Administrator doesn't mind I'll post it in the originality forum.

Cheers
Greg

You gave up?

my427cobra 07-17-2018 08:34 AM

Yeah. You know the old saying about doing things over and over - insanity.

Haven't given up on the luggage rack instal though. Got my straps, fabbed my attachment clips, coated them with Plasti-Dip.

Now to cut the leather straps to the right length.

Dang! cut 'em three times, and they're still TOO SHORT!

my427cobra 07-17-2018 11:33 AM

Now what do I do with the long pieces left over that are all too long?

Cheers
Greg

Cut them into strips and make fringe for your driving gloves.

my427cobra 07-18-2018 08:02 AM

Fringes. Yeah, that's it.

But wait, a fringe along the top of the windshield.

A surrey with a fringe on top.

That's the ticket.

I tried fringe on the windshield but it kept whipping me in the face so I switched to those cute little pom pom balls.

Love talking with you young guys.

Pom Poms.

I believe the period correct term was "monkey nuts".

That is very helpful! I’m surprised the rack sits so close to the trunk. I thought it would sit an inch or so up on the feet?

my427cobra 07-19-2018 07:52 AM

Yes, there is supposed to be a 1" chrome spacer between the rack bottom and the wedge shaped foot.

Interesting to see the word "REAR" on the wedge shaped foot. Must have been a diecast part (then chromed).

There would also be a rubber (vinyl?) washer between the wedge shaped foot and the paint surface of the trunk lid.

And then washers inside the trunk lid under the wing nuts.

That's all I know which I learned from others on the forum.

Straps and suction cups.
So this is what my version of the luggage rack attachment using straps and suction cups (to avoid drilling the trunk lid) looks like.
