lucas paddle (toggle) switch orientation

I just installed the switches into my dash (aiming for 427 S/C look). I have several of the SPST paddle switches to control various functions and realized that I don't know if the ON position requires the toggle to be pushed UP or pushed DOWN. The OFF position is obviously at 90 degrees to the dash (straight out). So what was in the original S/C cars? UP is ON or DOWN is ON?

Assistance greatly appreciated. Good news it's easy to rotate them 180 degrees !!

Thanks much in advance
Ron

I have dash photos of CSX3020, 3021 and 3050. Those photos are of the cars in what appears to be original, unrestored condition.

The switches OFF position for all 3 cars appears to be in the DOWN position.

My own research covering several originals agrees with this, too.

Could the OP please clarify, it almost sounds almost like your switches are 3 position switches, the center being the off position and then you can push it up or down from there. A SPST switch usually only has two positions, and in most of the cars I've seen they are oriented toggle down opens the circuit and toggle up closes the circuit.

To my knowledge only 3050 is unrestored, at least now.
3020 was done last geese about 15 - 18 years ago. It was done in 60’s for first time, book may say.
3021 7-8 years back.
Down = off as I know it.
