SW fuel pumps
3 Attachment(s)
I took a bit of a punt on a lot of 6 pumps, I will clean them up and use them for the most part, some will be for parts etc.
One of the interesting things was the old fittings on a couple of the pumps, hence the purchase. Any how any significance to these? |
Any updates on the SW pumps? I have a couple and am thinking about restoring so they work.

Hi Hi-tech.
Restoring old SW 240A fuel pumps is a challenge due to the scarcity of rebuild parts. I tried some 5 or 6 years ago to find some parts with limited sucess. The few parts I had left over I sold a couple of years ago. The parts I still have I'm going to keep to go with the NOS (perfect) pair of SW240A's if and when I decide to sell them. For my car, and you can search for my SW240A old threads on this forum, I took two old SW240A's, gutted them, bored them out and slipped into each a modern in-line electric fuel pump. Love the look. Cheers Greg |
Greg's solution is the plan for these pumps. As he already said the repair parts are all but gone today. Worse yet the pumps capacity for fuel delivery, even when new, was marginal. Using the shell and putting modern pumping tech inside gives you both the period correct look and most importantly the fuel volume reserve your engine demands. This is a kick ass solution!

Nice grab however those fittings are later post cobra versions and not Shelby related. They are the later mirror image EELCO version, still cool
Cool to have just later version is all. I love my SW pump which feeds the mechanical in front. They are easily rebuilt and seem bullet proof. Nice work! |
That’s a great idea! I’ll look for your threads on it

Not cheap but around, I have several in whole and once rebuilt and cleaned up with new gaskets work fine. They are comparatively more $$ |

Pumps can be tricky to rebuild and get right, parts can be hard to come by.
I recommend using a modern fuel pump mounted under the car and use the SW pump in the trunk for show (427 car) All the plating is done on these ones, ready to put back together. I have pumps available if anybody is looking for a set. |
