Any one know what happened to the 260 engine, XPH-260-2? It was the cross ram Weber set up, made double famous by the photo of the Ford dino test team, and the Road & Track, cutaway drawing of a yellow CSX2000 with that engine. I know CSX2000 never had that engine, so, what happened to it? Cheers, Dennis

1985 CCX,
Hi Jeff, Original Weber IDM carburetors are very scarce, as are all the tuning parts. I am in the final throughs of reproducing these sand cast carburetors, just trying to find a machine shop that can do the machining processes, patterns are done, machining drawings are done, needed small parts are done, gaskets are done and other needed parts are sourced. It’s been a long process. |
CompClassics Lots of questions here. Do you have any castings yet? Pictures of patterns? How much machining do they require? How many at a time do you need machined? I ask because I have foundry equipment, machine tools. My son has a larger machining center. Sounds like a nice project and we are always looking for project to be doing, as long as its not 100's of them at a time.

Hi Mark,
I have all the machining drawings, the casting patterns and the core patterns. I also have some castings already as prototypes to qualify the patterns. Looking forward to talking with you. You can email me at jkb5 at sbcglobal.net |

Here is a better photo of the machined hole in the manifold valley....also note that the manifold is void of the “COBRA” logo in the rear of the valley as well. There is also a cool little clue as to the manifolds “first” status, see if you can find it.
