As much as I appreciate and value the look of the Sunburst wheels, the age of the casting and the quality of the castings from that time period would cause me to put them on a pedastal rather than on a car. The potential for the casting strength to have deteriorated over the years is too great to risk a failure and subsequent car crash by using them — especially on an original car.

This came to mind as well.
On-off transport trailer .... acceptable.
Open road ..... not acceptable.

Trying to figure out what rear fender configuration it has. It’s obviously not the early wide hip due to being a 67 but not sure it’s a narrow hip either. I guess it could be a bit of a hybrid. The rear wheels seem to be of the same depth as the front but obviously fill the rear real wells well which is not typical on street roadsters with Sunburst wheels except for narrow hip cars. Possibly it has an 8-1/2 FIA wheel in the rear where the extra width over the fronts is all added into the rear offset. But what a nice street roadster. Beautiful car.

From what I have read, there were three different rear fender configurations on the 427 cars. The first wide hip version was followed by the narrow hip version when they made street cars with the Sunburst wheels. Then, someone decided that the narrow hips didn't look that good, so AC made a third version that had a wider flare, but not as extreme as the first one. This being a later car has the last version.

Yes, that what I meant by hybrid version - the last version - but I didn’t recall the exact details. It looks good.

The original FIA wheels were 6.5" front, 8.5" rear. When I purchased CSX 3121 in 1969, it was wearing a set of these. I later managed to scrounge a set of 7.5/9.5 Halibrands, which are still on the car per its current owner. Back in the 1970s, the sunbursts were viewed negatively for some reason.

Was the positive offset the same on both wheel widths?

I assume that it was, since they both fit well. BTW, my car had the early wider rear fenders.

Mags are typically 6.5/8.5"
Alloy are 7.5/9.5 normally

These look to be alloy based upon valve stem placement
