Lucas Tri Bar Headlights
Does anyone know when the Tri Bar's were used on 289 Cobras?

Cobras left A.C. Cars with Lucas brand sealed beam lamps.
Accessories wise, left hand drive (LHD) Lucas® P700 and PL700 lamps were offered as accessories in period before and after the new Cobra era. Both were made for decades with the last Lucas brand ones or each type I examined made in India during the 1990s. That does not mean lamps made for four decades stayed the same for all those years. A number of different bulb wattages and focus points were available for both which made them very customizable.
Shelby American, Inc. normally used a particular General Electric Company (GE®) sealed beam headlight on works racers that did not race at night. Once common, that particular 1963-64 version is now hard to find. It was not uncommon for Shelby American to swap in GE bulbs for magazine road test cars either, Cobra or 427 Cobra. (The Shelby American factory pictures depict a round “GE” logo molded into the center of the glass lenses.)
My notes say I found period pictures of three different Shelby American race team Cobras that ran at night including a Dayton Coupe that used "round cat's eye" Lucas LHD P700 lamps.
Owners could and did install their favorites.
