Lifting a round tube frame
I have a Kwiklift that has the two bridges for lifting the car off the lift. It recommends a bottle jack to do this. Unfortunately, I can't find one with a cradle on it to use on a round tube frame. Any suggestions? I posted here and on csxinfo.net hoping one of the free thinking people that visit these sites might have a solution. Any ideas???

Weld a piece of 4" pipe (pipe is measured on I.D. Tube is O.D.) to the top of the jack while the jack is extended, or have a welding or mufler shop weld it for you.

Thanks, that's kind of the direction I was going except maybe attaching a smaller tube to fit over the lift point on the quick jack. Your idea may be less work and stronger.

John, feel free to borrow my floor jack. It's low enough to get under the Hi-Tech. It's a heavy be-otch though.

I have a floor jack but the Kwiklift gets the car a couple feet off the ground and then I can get it off the lift with a bottle jack. A nice combo. Thanks Mike.

Ahh, OK. I thought you were trying to get it on the lift itself.

good day,
the typical lift may not be low enough to grab under the round tubes. An option may be to "grab" at the rear trailing arm to chassis link if your sidepipes allow the jack to move in... I would make a plan to lift at the quick jacks, if the car is quite low. Then, of course, your jacks may not reach enough... good question!! Dominik |
