Does anyone have any close-up shots of the throttle linkage (original) on a 427
Multiple views would really be great Thanks Paul |

This isn't original, but off a new Shelby 4000. Looks similar to the original stuff.

Question.....
How and where do you buy a set up like this? I would fab one but need the dimensions. Paul , are u planning to fabricate a set-up like this? Kris, do you own that linkage.... I'm coming to Vegas for SEMA show. Dave |
They look just like those on my Kirkham. Perhaps they'd sell you a set.
|
Linkage dimensions
Dave,
Yes, I was planning to build the setup. Dimensions would really be great. If not available, I planned to record what I did and publish. Unfortunately, I am about 9 months away from that point Those reading this, the pictures posted are a great help but we'll take more :) Paul |
Diameters?
Kris,
Can you tell us the diameter of the cross shafts and also of the linkage(threaded) rods thanks Paul |
I believe the rods are 1/4". Please correct me if wrong.
I think some people use all-thread and cover it with stainless or aluminum tubing. |
Diameters
ElGecko, I want to disagree with you - look at the last picture posted.
If the cross-bolt in the lever is 1/4", it would be 7/16" across the flats. I reference that since it would be in the same plane as the shaft. Using my untrained eye, I am guessing the shaft is 3/8" dia, not 1/4" I've read elsewhere it is common to use 1/4" threaded rod then cover the rod with 3/8" tubing. That would apply to the ones that run parallel to the cl of the car. How 'bout it Kris. Can you throw a tape measure across some of the parts and solve this mystery? Enquiring minds want to know Thanks Paul  |
ERA has a good drawing and photo of this on their website for their manual suppliment. I used this on my 1959 Ford pickup and on a 57 Thunderbird with dual carbs. Worked well. Used 1/4" heim joints and covered with 5/16" brake line like the text suggested. Worked great.
Check out www.erareplicas.com/427man/engine/linkage.htm Jim |
The cross-shaft is 5/16" and the ones with the heims on the are 1/4" :)
|
Hey, I got some of them right. Which ain't bad.
I'm going to carry a tape measure when I come to SEMA. I see springs on one setups photos but don't see springs on ERA's setup?????? Dave |
The springs go on the 5/16" cross shaft. They allow the motor to torque left and right without ripping the linkage off the footbox.
Shelby sells the throttle linkage. It may be easier just to buy it from them. |
BUY
I think you may be right. |

The rod slides through heim joints, one of which is mounted on the footbox and the other the intake/engine. The springs keep the rod in position when the engine moves from torque.

I know a guy that makes them.........
