Demister vents on CSX/Kirkham cars

I have noticed in the CC Galleries that it is not un-common for CSX, and Kirkham Cobras not to have any demister vents fitted, I assume (2) reasons could be that unlike NZ, it is quite warm in the US especially in CA and other states etc, and not bothering with a softtop/hardtop for the cars.

Correct on both counts!

Here in Cali most don't bother with a top.

But, I think that applies to all Cobras here, not just Kirkham's & Shelby's!

That's correct. My car, CSX4068, has neither a heater nor demister. As a replica of an S/C, that is to be expected. Of course, the heat coming into the cockpit from the drivetrain pretty much eliminates the need for a heater...

Demister vents on Kirkham/CSZ cars

jdog, DougD,

Thanks, its not a biggy, but my car which isnt quite in the same league as your cars, but being a UK RamSC and once Shelby design endorsed, I am trying to get the correct build, the body designer glassed in a lightweight tubular body stiffening structure right where the demister vent goes...........!

I would assume though the SC cars have the door ferrules installed for the side screens?

Ant ~ my 1st cobra SPF1299 had a heater that I never used......well maybe once on that 29 degree day. In fact I never even had the top on that car.

KMP297 does not have a heater but at least it does have a top (just in case). I agree with what DougD says about the motor putting out enough heat in the cockpit.

Here is a pic showing the door ferrules

Demister vents on CSX/Kirkham cars

bnewell,

Thank you, that is one nice looking motorcar, and the best view I have seen on ferrules, I am going to fit some, as we havent had any summer yet, overcast most days and light to very heavy rain every few days, I am thinking I should have built a GT40 for this country, but my first love is the Cobra, and my wife would be happier with a top!

I am building my dashboard similar to yours, with great help from CC members on another post, and wondered if possible I could get an approx measurement from the top of the small gauge chrome bezel (under center fastening screw) to edge of the turnover body lip, to establish how far down the gauge is from the bodywork?

bnewell 01-10-2007 08:09 PM

Ant ~ you're welcome and thanks for the kind words.

Sounds like you are having the same weather as Ohio......it svcks!!!

Sure I can get some measurements for you, but I may not be able to post them until tomorrow since the car is in storage at a friends building.

Good luck with the build......cobras are awesome cars!!!

As promised.....gotta love those AutoMeter gauges, my car wasn't even running when I took the pics. Let me know if this is what you were looking for or if you need more. Hey, this is my 1,000 post......yeah!!!!!!
