Great question, I am not sure as all the older pics I have do show shoulder belts in comp cars. Not sure if they were added in the 70's or if they were from SAI?
Inquiry minds want to know........

Shoulder harnesses were in comp cars from Shelby otherwise added by respective owners after purchase. I dare say very few were used in street cars. Seat belts themselves were just coming into use in passenger cars.
