FE Dual Quad Manifold?

Hey all
I see a lot of the FE's that have dual quads have an high rise, angled intake, with the rear carb higher than the front carb. I read somewhere that original DQ intakes were flat. Which is "correct"?

All manifolds including single 4's are angled up in the back because the engine is on an angle and this is to keep the carb flat. That is why the rear carb is hgher on the dual ones. The lowriser manifold is probably not as noticable to you because it is not as high but the rear is higher.

To further clarify cobrakc's post, the original 2x4 intakes were designed for installation on Ford passenger car motors, that had the rear of the motor lower than the front by about 10 degrees. Not sure about the original Cobras, but the motors in the replicas are almost level, making the carbs lean toward the front and the rear carb higher than the front. It also can require a little creativity in setting the float levels on the carbs, since the carb float bowls are not level as originally intended.

Cobras use a 2.5 deg angle on the drivetrain.
