As to keeping original parts, in my general area we have a well-known "restorer" who specializes in, well I can't say (but the logo is a bow-tie and the model name word means "pal" in some language) who is reknown for removing original parts and replacing them with repros. He thinks the customers are stupid (and they may be, for taking cars to him for a "rattle-can" restoration) and that he DESERVES the "good stuff". He then sells these parts to others who want to be "original".

Karma will seek it's own level and all will be judged...........................
