Was it common to have FIA front wheels with Halibrand rear?

Was it common to have S/C factory cars with FIA front wheels and Halibrand rears? I have seen this many times and figure it may have been a trend in the day.

SAI had a lot of trouble getting wheels back then so my guess is that's the reason for the mis match sets that you may see.
Does it seem like the entire wheel face has the gold finish?

Gold = Dow#7 finish to protect magnesium

The gold is from the magnesium protective coating. Thay all came that way as I undersatnd it. They would get polished rim edge or completely painted in due time.

I know of at least 5 cars that came FIA/Halibrand mix.

Is it possible they were used because the required/accepted width for the rear of 427's was 9.5 and the FIA wheels were 8.5 as used on FIA cars. Combined with a shortage of the non FIA fronts.

Jeff
Thank you, for using my picture. Hailbrand manufactured both the wheels
you are referring to the fronts being FIA 6 spoke and the rears as Cobra II
wheels, of magnesium construction. 6 1/2 inch FIA style , front and a measurement of 9 1/2" rears Cobra II with the wheels being marked 9" inch in compliance with the sporting regulations. Front wheels were hard to come by in 66 and 67, in any size . Respectfully R.H.M
