Frame mount height measurement

Hey Guys,
Would someone with a CSX4000 or Kirkham pull a measurement of their frame mounts. There was some concern that they were too tall so we just tacked them on. I have attached a pic of where I need the measurements. Thanks!!! John |
Is that your car John? That looks WAY too tall. My oil pan sits about evenly about a 1/2" from the bottom of the frame rail front to back.
I don't have my car here, but I'll see if I can dig up some 4000 frame pics in the mean time. |
The bottom of the oil pan should be roughly 1/2" from the bottom of the frame rails like Sal mentioned. Any lower and you have clearance issues with the slave cylinder and throwout arm.
The CSX1000 series AC cars have tall engine mounts and sit the engine higher than any other Shelby I've seen. It all works, but the surge tank needs to be shortened so it clears the hood. |

I will double check it, but I think the bottom of the pan is the same height as the bottom of the frame rails.
What I reeeeaaaallllyyyyy need are some actual height measurements of the frame mounts...can't really go any farther with the build until this little devil of a detail is ironed out. I think my frame mounts are 1/2" too tall. Thanks! |

Yes this is my car. And yes they do look high. Kris, Are you saying the oil pan should be higher than the bottom of the frame rail? Patrick, thanks for the pic. |
PM me and I'll give you the exact dimension from frame rail to whatever point of reference you want on the motor mount stand.

Here is a pic. From the top of the hat, bending around the angle and down to the chassis. Result 7".

John I took the CSX to the shop today and got some measurements for you.
This is off the pass side mount... Hooking on the top of the mount, around the 45* and to the bottom, I've got 6.5". On the inside, from the top of the mount plate to the bottom of the mount I've got 3.5". Hope this helps. |

Thanks for that measurement. 601HP had a good idea for a more accurate method...to measure from the top of the 4" chassis tube. So I used a small level and set it on the top to the 4" tube. Here is what I got: 5 7/8". |

It has a Canton RR pan on it right now. Canton's web site says the pan is 6" tall. Placed a straight edge directly under the frame motor mounts and the pan is dead even with the bottom of the frame rails. But using the other measurement (pic above) it looks like mine are 1/2" too tall. |

Good lad, maybe next time. I was at Denbeste today, I'm on Shelby overload but I did pop up in an engine bay like a gerbil and snap a couple of motor mount pics for ya. They are looking like 3 1/4 and 3 3/8" on the inside to the frame top.

If you have the engine, 130mm from top of frame rails to crank centerline should make you look good. (Measured to the center of the balancer bolt)

That sounds close Dom, I'll have to see how long the motor is and trig out the difference. I have 6 1/8" from the chassis centreline to the crank centreline at the back of the block.
