Rack and pinion steering
I am thinking about upgrading an Ace to Cobra style Rack and Pinion steering, but am not sure how it was done on the 289 Cobras. Doesd anyone have some pictures of how it all went together and how it was attached to the a-frame?

The worm and sector cars had the steering gear behind the spring tower where the rack and pinion cars had the steering gear in front of the spring tower. All the conversions I've seen used a "rear steer" rack. I have some photos of CSX2057 when Fiskens in London had it, and they sorta show the rack conversion.
I've never seen somebody convert a W&S car to an original style R&P setup. Maybe it's can't be done properly? Kris, Thanks for the pictures. I am aware that most worm and sector cars that are converted use a rack on the rear, but my car also came with an extra a-frame that may be for a rack and pinion set up. I am trying to determine if the extra a-frame is really for rack and pinion, and if so, how much work would be needed to convert the rest of the suspension over. I figured in this case a picture would probably be the easiest way to see all the parts and the setup. I may just stick with the original set up, convert to a rear rack, or change to a Cobra set up depending on how much work is needed for each.

csx 2085 belonging to Michael Stott has been done by Henry who I believe is with Donovan Motorsports.Mike explained it to me and says the difference is huge but required major surgery.ie cut and welding new front section to his chassis.Maybe contact him as he is extremely courteous and helpful.
