Talbot Mirrors on Cobra and Mustangs
CC minds want to know:
Both Mustangs and Cobras used Talbot mirrors on the 60's cars. Question: 1) Did Cobras use both Talbot York(green dot) and Talbot Berlin? 2) Did Mustangs use only the Talbot York (green dot)? 3) Or did the cars get what was closest on the shelves as Shelby was grabbing the parts randomly upon completion. Thanks |
That's a good question. I have talbot Jr. replicas on my Mustang. The Sr's were too big on the car with functional wing vents. I am not familar with the Yorks, do they come in the smaller size? Otherwise I'm not sure they would work.

Talbot York are green dot type and I think full size as are the Talbot Berlin.
Does anyone know? |
Really?
No answers to this question. Where are the detail orientated neophites? |
CSX 2401 has a Talbot Co. Berlin 3 1/2" mirror, not a green dot. However, this is a smaller than full size mirror. CSX 3288 has a similar size and shape mirror but has no markings on it. I believe both to be original to the car. I will poll a group of owners of original cars to see what else I can find out.

Thanks Jim!

Jeff: My CCX came with a Talbot Junior, but I thought it was too small to do much good. I then purchased a Senior model, and it does a better job of warning me of approaching Ferraris. And still looks pretty authentic and works fine with my functional wing vents. Ya still have to use your neck mussels to change lanes though, unless you like unpleasant surprises. Rich

Talbot mirror
Hello all. I'm new to the forum but I'm very impressed by the content. I thought I'd chime in regarding the discussion about the Talbot mirrors. I am certain that both the Junior and the Senior mirrors were used on the AC Cobras. I have met with original owners who still have the Shelby installed mirror on their cars. The early GT-350 also used Talbot mirrors but only the Junior was used due to clearance limitations with windwing. A little self promotion, I manufactue and sell these mirrors. You can find info on our website www.talbotco.com

Besides Talbot, Walpres mirrors were also used. They were a $6.00 option. ;)
