Looking For Book Recommendations For Early Cobras

Looking for book recommendations ...

- 289 street cars
- 289 FIA and USRRC Race cars

Interested in photos, specs and details about these cars. I already have Trevor's wonderful book (The First 40 Years ...), just looking for other titles to consider.

Thanks!

The Shelby register book

Tim If you go to a SAAC meet, they sell them there. The good binding book was about $350.00. It has hundreds of pictures of cobras. You are in CA it might be easier to just go to the Shelby Factory and do a class trip for a week end. Bring a good camera and alot of battery packs and photo cards for the camera. There is a guy on here that is encharge of the Shelby company. Don't remember his name. Try Don Cain??? Rick L.

Tim, Rinsey Mills`s "Truth behind the Anglo American legend" Mike Shoens "Cobra Ferrari Wars" Bill Carrolls "Ford Cobra guide" Dave Friedmans "Cobra" and "Racing Cobra" are all good sources. If you need to know something specific pm me and I`ll try to help with pleasure. The museum in Boulder Col open on a Saturday morn is a must.

Rick,

Thanks for the info. I am not that far from Vegas and will definitely check out the Shelby factory if I am down that way. Is the book called the 'good binding book'?

Poor wording

tkb289 Tim at the Saac meet they sell the book in a couple of ways, With or without a CS autograph, A hard back book or soft, and even have it on Disc also. The best bet is to go and see them close up. To do what you want will take alot of pictures and a couple of hours to shoot. I was lucky at the VIR Saac meet, I always wanted to see what was hideing under the #198 car. When they loaded it to go home a got a dozen good pictures of all the extras. You can look at a picture 2-3 times and still miss something.%/ I learned why Dick Smiths car was almost bullet proof and raced hard. Rick L.

Rick,

I'll have to make a point to go to a big SAAC meet and get lots of photos. Have been to a few local Nor Cal region SAAC events and got some photos of a few early Cobras and talked with the owners, nice guys. I'll keep an eye out for the book. Thanks.
