Original dry sump cap CSX3002, CSX3020
Original dry sump cover?
I think that CSX3020 used a Ceandess type cap originally. CSX3002 looks to have used the Monza style and now has a Ceandess style. Are both Monza and Ceandess correct on the three original dry sump cars? |

I have a copy of that photo (I'm sure you've seen it) of 3002 parked next to a street Cobra and it appears that 3002 has the Ceandess cap on the fender. The caption on the photo says April 1965. I didn't know it ever had a Monza style cap. Got any photo's? Larry |

3002 was born without dry sump...early photo session had no dry sump. In all it's early race pictures, it had the Ceandess cap...which is the one on all others with dry sump that I can find. 3002 was torn down and rebuilt numerous times. Under construction in 1974, it had a Monza style oil filler, like the gas cap but smaller. Later "restorations" put it back to the Ceandess, like it is today. |
