Fuel log question
 
I'm going with a nylon black 1/2" fuel line attempting to keep an original look. Two feed lines running down the drivers side. One to the mechanical fuel pump (Robbmc 550hp), and the other from the electrics (240-A's) up to a T above the mech fuel pump. I might add a check valve for insurance. 1/2" line to feed the now commonplace 600 hp KC482.

Question is about the fuel log. I want to keep things looking "original" but I'm worried the NOS fuel log that guys have used (Power Surge) will not flow enough to the carb. What do you think? Maybe fab something up with a larger diameter tube for the log with 1/2" outlets to the carb? Or get this one from Jegs: http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/15196/10002/-1

I hesitate to get the one from Jegs because of the non original look but it has provision for a return line. The 1/2" return will run back to the tank down the right frame tube.

An original log has a place for a return as well, as the rear of the log is where the pressure gauge comes off on an original car.

Honestly, you could probably MAKE a nice copy of the original log that looks correct. It's just some thick wall tube tapped at both ends, with flat strap welded to it for mounting and two outlets soldered on. Just have it gold cad plated when done.

Just picking up on the comment you made about the hose connections between the SW 240's and mechanical pump

I always thought that the electric SW pumps were connected in parallel and fed directly into the mechanical pump? But you are running them separately - Is that correct? Or do you have a reason to do it that way?

I'm asking the question because I'm about the connect up my SW pumps and planned to feed them into the mechanical pump.

The electrics are hooked in series and feed one line up the drivers frame rail to a tee after the mechanical pump. The other line runs alongside the right frame rail also from the tank to the mechanical pump. The idea was to run on the mechanicals till they were low on fuel and then switch the electrics on to make it back to the pits.

That's good information, but are you sure the electrics are connected in series? The photo's I've seen in CSXinfo.net show the inlet ports connected to tank and the outlet ports connected to the delivery hose. This is connecting in parallel..........not series.
