SHASTA DAM 75th ANNIVERSARY
For any of you that have been up here to Shasta Lake and Dam you may find this week interesting.
Home Ron |
My great uncle Frank T. Crowe built that plus a few others.

Darn Flip,
All of these years I had been under the impression that a lot of people built the dam. Hard to believe it has been this long. And the lake is really getting low. Ron :p |
You are correct on that Ron. I guess what I meant was that he was the conductor who led the orchestra on that symphony. LOL It took all of them
to build it. |
Flip,
Been a long time since I last chatted with you. What are you doing now and have you moved to Texas permanently? Funny thing about the dam. There are miles of galleries in it and not any of the people working there know know about many of them. They used to have one place that was supposed to be a fallout shelter in case of nuclear attack and they kept it stocked with non perishable food. We used to go through a porthole which has long since been welded shut and covered over and eat the food. Then they finally realized that if a bomb hit the dam, that room wasn't going to be much help and I think it is just an empty room now. Darn, but 911 sure messed everything up. They are having a show and shine during the week of the celebrations and I may go over to that and look to see what cars show up. Ron |
Flip,
Here is some more history of the Dam and the people and area. See if you can Your Great Uncle here. It should be quite easy. He was a master builder and engineer on the project. Shasta Lake Heritage & Historical Society Ron |
