Hi Guys:
With Tripods, you certainly want them for a Left Hand drive car if you are to use them in US or Canada. I have seen some on Ebay but also, found an excellent source for them stateside. There is a Morgan sportscar firm in NY state that has a good source for them. At the time, I purchased a pair with halogen bulbs for $228 (price varies with strengh of US dollar). Odered them on a monday and got them on Thursday. These were brand spanking new and in perfect condition. At present I am traveling in Europe so I do not have their link handy. When I get home I will post it for you.
Lastly, they look super and illuminate well. I get constant comments about them.
Cheers.

HEY, BRIAN - - -

MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY.

I WOULD HAVE GONE FOR THE $225.00 MUCH EARLIER BUT I DIDN'T GET CONFIRMATION BY THE SELLER THAT THEY WERE FOR LEFT HAND DRIVE UNTIL LATER.

WERE YOU THE GUY THAT TOOK THAT COOL SHOT WITH 7 SECONDS TO GO??? I'LL HAVE TO REMEMBER THAT ONE.

Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY,

BLACKJACK

Lucar tri-bars

Hagan Industries makes a very convincing repro with improved optics for less than $150.

If you are driving and not showing, this is a good option. I don't know if they are DOT or not, so you may have to swap them to get your inspection sticker...

BLACKJACK ~ it wasn't me. I bowed out of the bidding frenzy when it went over the original buy it now price. Oh well, the search continues!!

Tripods

I have a sorce for the Lucus Tripods in England. I bought a set a couple of weeks ago and he said he had a few sets left. His email address is lucasparts@aol.com. He seems like a very trustworthy person.

Good luck

I just got an email back from Bernard, "Lucas Parts" He confirmed that he had several sets and that they were 90 pounds per set plus shipping. I don't know the conversion from pounds to US dollars but I think they would be around $160 per set and I paid around $25.00 for shipping. They look great on my Cobra. Good luck!

A Snake 11-02-2003 12:34 PM

Not to be overly picky, but they are not called "tripods". Correct term is "Trilobe." Lucas is the original manufacturer. Anything else is not original. RH and LH cars both used them. Both AC and Shelby too.

When I priced them last, they were a bit over $500 per set. Anyone who deals in classic British cars should be able to get them for you.

BLACKJACK

They're like American lights. It's how you adjust them. Light patterns are the same. Doesn't matter what hand drive the car is.

If you have problems with it, try www.morgan-spares.com and do a search on PL700 - their catalog shows $149.95 but I think it may be the price for one headlamp not a pair. Anybody know for certain?

Guys,

If you go to www.morgan-spares.com and call up their contact info - They regularly stock PL700 tripods and bulbs.

They may not always be the cheapest, but they seem to have a regular supply.

Good luck,
- Snak Iyz

I got my Lucas PL700's from Europa Spares (Cobra Accessories) in the UK for $185.00 a pair plus about $25.00 shipping about 6 months ago. Price does vary with the strenght of the US$.
I did find a number of european sources, mostly UK that could supply and most have been covered in the above threads. Most are substantially cheaper than many US sources.
