He really needs to buy a new one. They loose their protection over time. Might as well put on a pair of Levi's and a cotton long sleve shirt.

Ernie,

Do they have a place over there that sells that stuff. It seems that every brand is a little different. I would want to try it on to see how it fit. That is one reason I don't have a driving suite. No place closer than San Francisco to try them on and I have tried on three different brands that friends have and all three fit different. One was a medium and so tight I couldn't move. One was a large and it was way to big. The other was a medium and it was just a little loose on me but I could have used it as I would grow into it in a few more meals. Same for the gloves. So if I were going to get a setup I would try to find a place that handles them and go in and try them on until I found what I like. Jegs sells all that stuff and they told me they would exchange anything that didn't fit right, but I would waste more sending stuff back and trying to get the right feel than it would cost to go to a store that does handle them.

If this is for an open car, add arm restraints to your list. And if your budget allows, add a HANS device.

Ernie,I got mine on EBAY.They have a large selection usually.Look under"fire suit", race suit,ect.. Look also under Nomex suit. I even found a double layer Nomex suit for my 12 year old son for 35.00. chuck

Fitting IS a problem, especially for the helmet. Were thinking new UNLESS some really good stuff turns up for cheap sort of thing. Doesn't look like it will.....

Not much you can buy here locally, looks like a long distance deal.

Formula Ford: Neck ring, helmet holder, arm restraints added to the list.

Transponder? Hmmmm,,, I like it!

"Large" for the suit, 11-11.5 for the shoes. How DO you measure for a helmet? Small, medium and large just doesn't cut it!

check out www.speedwaymotors.com they got good prices and fast service.

Excaliber 02-23-2005 06:43 PM

Thanks Dusty, that site had a nice helmet sizing chart.

Earnie, what an interesting thead. You have a friend who is going racing but needs an outfit or is he just modeling for the crowd?? %/

A license for starters if he is lacking all of the above said equipment would be the best start.

A HANS device would be 2nd along with a a date check of the harnesses. Extra tires, bottled water, like 5-6 liters worth for a weekend, granola, apples, bananas (you might have him covered there), I assume you are discussing Hawaii...A Cool Shirt setup. Floor jack, tools , spare parts, trailer, truck to tow it with.

Oh and a scooter to run around the pits with.
