Engine Identification

I got a number off my 351W SVO block and wanted to know the history of this motor. Surfing the net results in information overload without the answer I'm looking for. Can any of you smart fellers point me in the right direction ? The number I got off the block is 4TE-6015-AA-g or 9
Thanks for any help you can provide

Oops, now how did I get this thread listed in parts for sale ?

The first part of the code should be a date year and should have a letter in front of the 4TE, D4TE which would date the block as a 1974. The next two letters TE normally tell what it came out of. Exapmle T = Truck, E = Engine. The 6015 normally designates the part number that identifies the part, in this case it should be Engine if your number is correct. The rest may indicate design changes, as my books don't show any exact match for that set of letters and numbers. There are some web sites that you can go to and spend hours searching through for an exact match but I don't have them listed. I am sure some of the other people will chime in and point you to someof the sites. Good Luck.

There was some casting in front of the 4TE which looked kinda like an F but wasn't sure if it was just slop or an actual number. I believe this engine was never installed in a vehicle because it was an SVO engine ordered from the factory. I may be all wet as I am not knowing.

John,

If that was an F that would make it a 1994 engine. The 6015 is a base engine. The following letters or numbers would indicate changes.

Example out of one of my Ford Engine Block books. C5ZE-6015
is a 1965 engine out of a Mustang (Z), and the (E) is just Ford engine engineering. 6015 states that is the base engine.
