Lakewood sells a scattershield, and salvage yards have plenty of 351m/400 bellhousings, which are the same. Get one from a HD truck (1 ton and up) and they are supposedly able to contain a clutch explosion.

The 351/400M bellhousings are fairly plentiful, but they're all iron. The only aluminum bell for a 460 is off the mid-late 80s 460 truck. Some had a hydraulic clutch. Others had an odd fork/pivot setup.

Please take into account that your feet or ankles are probably in the plane of rotation of the flywheel/clutch.
Should it come apart, you stand a very good chance of loosing your feet. We have aluminum 427 bellhousings on the shelf, and refuse to sell them. You can order a scattershield for $300 from Jegs. That's what we do for ourselves and what we recommend to all our customers (and anyone else who will listen!) Good luck. |
