Looking For Haliburton Wheels
Has anyone got any info on Haliburton wheels? I can't find a thing online about them. I've seen two Cobras for sale on E-Bay that had them (sellers had no idea about where the wheels came from).
Help! If you can point me in the right direction I'll sure appreciate it! RadioJay |
Not sure about Haliburton....
...but maybe HALIBRAND would be the right direction. Not that haliburtons don't exist but I have never heard of them. It would't be the first time there has been a COBRA advertised on EBAY that the seller had no idea what he was talking about.
Have a good one, Dan |
Halibrand Wheels
RadioJay -
I think you'll have much better luck if you try searching for "Halibrand" wheels. There are a number of companies making replicas of them, in knock-off and bolt-on variety. Even Halibrand themselves still make them. Here are the names of some of the companies that make wheels for Cobra replicas that look like "Halibrand" rims: Halibrand - Culver City, CA Trigo - Los Angeles, CA PS Engineering - Torrance, CA Team III - Compomotive - You ought to be able to find something from one of these guys that suits your needs. regards, Jeff |
Just checked EBAY...
if this is one of the cars you are talking about...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2440539314 ....then these wheels are HALIBRAND Replica wheels made by one of the mfgr's listed by Cobrajeff above. (like I said some of these dealers have no clue)
Good luck, Dan |
Thanks Dudes!
MAN! Thanks to everybody, and especially Dan - yep, that's one of the ads I was talking about.
You're right - the wheels on that car are Halibrand copies. I figured someone had maybe cleverly used part of the Halibrand name to make a new wheel - they look good. Now for another question - are those 4-lug wheels in that ad?? Thanks again! Jay |

I ended up with a set of real pin-drive Halibrand magnesium Cobra wheels on my Cobra and as I was doing the research prior to purchase it seemed like the spelling of "Halibrand" went all over the map. I'm thinking that the original magnesium is no longer used, even if the wheel looks the same - I'm I correct? Real Halibrand's are worth a little extra if they are in good shape, but be prepared to do a lot of polishing. |
They stopped using magnesium, because of it's ability to get a fire started if they got ground or curbed. Pretty green flames though.

I sold my Haliburton when Cheney was being scrutinized... I still think it was a mistake...

if you had bought it back last December you'd have made about $10/share.
