Wanted OEM Ford dual 4V intake for FE
Does anyone have a used original Ford aluminum intake manifold for a 427 FE engine? Prefer no carbs or can have incorrect carbs, with or without linkage and fuel log. Will buy or have items to trade.

Will the med and low riser fit on the same heads?
How well, or would, a hi rise manifold fit on "standard" heads? |
A LOW RISE WILL FIT ON LR OR MR HEADS.HOW CLOSE DO YOU WANT THE PORT MATCH TO BE.HIGH RISE MANIFOLD WILL ONLY FIT ON HIGH RISE HEADS.YOU NEED TO KNOW WHAT HEADS YOU ARE USING.

My engine is a 427 side oiler, ribbed block w/ screw-in freeze plugs, but the heads are just C1AE that have had extensive work done to them. The car they are going is is a 1963 1/2 Galaxie 500 XL. Would the low or medium rise intake work best? Thanks, Jim

I have 2. One C3AE lowrise in VG condition, it is polished aluminum. $850. (polishing an FE manifold will cost you $600)
The second is a C3AE lowrise in excellent / like new condition. It has new 1" carb spacers / studs it is $525. You can get original manifolds on e-bay for $375 and up. Condition really is everything. Cracks, breaks stripped holes are common. Buyer beware. |
I have a nice Dual Quad C7ZX Intake available. It is the MUCH improved version of the C3AE LR Intake and will fit either the LR/CJ type port(like your's) or the MR port(for if and when you upgrade in the future). I want $850.00 plus shipping for it. I also have new Blue Thunder versions(improved copies of the C7 Intake made with the OEM Ford tooling) of this Intake. Cobra Restorers handles these. I sold one about a year ago that I had left over. You can get them with the base plate already cut to set on the carbs or if you have a different spacing I have seen blank bases that you cut to match your carb spacing. www.cobrarestorers.com Ron ;) |
Well I'm not impressed with the user interface at Cobrarestorers. Several searches on various items listed page one of 7, or 15 or whatever. But I could never get beyond page one. Never did find any manifolds or air cleaners.
Dscmotorsport has much better user interface. Could it be because they have far less parts? I found manifolds and air cleaners immediatly! |

You could be right. I never use the Cobra Restorers site as I have a magazine and it shows everything. I also like to talk to them when I order anything and be sure it is what it looks like. Sorry about misleading you. By the way, in the pictures of the five Cobras that you sent me, why does all the others including the girls have on shorts and you are dressed fully? :LOL: :LOL: Ron :) |
Snake Bites! I most always wear long pants when I drive a Cobra. And during the day, a long sleeve shirt too.

I wear long sleeves and pants also. Keeps my arms from wind burning. Also I just tried the Cobra Restorers site and had no trouble at all finding all the air cleaners. Took me one try and about 3 seconds. Did you say 3 Hail Marys before trying? :) Ron %/ |
I used "Category", "Model" which listed MANY pages but no link or way to get to anything beyond Page 1 (which did not list AT ALL what I was looking for).
I went back and used "Description" and found some stuff right away,,,,,, but only on Page 1. No way I would order without speaking to them directly, the "descriptions" and "pictures" for many items are identical, but the price is WAY different! ....and now that I think about it I probably CAN'T use an Oval air cleaner. The back "Stelling" filter all ready JUST touches the hood when closed. Leaving a slight mark on the underside of the hood. |

I have to agree with you about talking to them before ordering. That is why I always used the catalog. And if your back one is just touching, you wouldn't be able to use the long oval one without modifications. Also those don't breathe as well and that is why I sold the one that I had. Looked good for shows, but now all of my cars just have single carbs and I have one of those long Cobra ones for the single carb. Just used it at shows as it really cuts down the air intake. A few years ago one of the girls that worked there did help me. I was looking at their Cobra seat belts with the 5 point setup and I think they were around $200 dollars. Anyway I told her that I had a new set of Simpson 5 points and wasn't going to spend that much just to have the Cobra emblem on them. She told me to go to a page in the book and order four of the Cobra sew on emblems as that is the ones they put on their seat belts to start with. So I paid the three or four dollars each for the patches, had them sewn on and have the same belts they sell. Ron :) |
