rearend
does anyone have a 1987 or 88 Linclon versi rearend that they would like to part with.

Dusty;
I have seen them on e-bay quite regularly,but have not looked for a while,that is probably your best bet other than the older country junkyards.......... David |
Lincoln Versalles were made from 77-80. The disc rear is the same as the one that was optional in the 75-80 Granadas and Monarchs (although I've only found them in 75-78 models). You should check the classifieds on Stangnet.com or Vintage-Mustang.com.

The 76-80 Versailles rear end differs from the 87-88 rear ends,the 76-80s are 52 inches flang to flang,the newer ones are 54 or 56 flang to flang,not positive,but I think the rotors and calipers are also different.......
I have had both,the 76-80 rears are the exact same width as the 65-66 Mustang and the old Mavericks,if fact they inter-change with them as the front and rear suspensions are identical........ The 87-88 rears use coil spring rear suspension where as the older ones use leaf spring rear suspensions...... Hope this helps.......... David |
Unless you are locked into using the very heavy and very expensive rear calipers and bearing retainers/caliper mounting brackets that came on the Versaille (77-80) 9" center section; you will be money ahead obtaining a generic Ford 9" rear end from another application and narrowing it and using other calipers. Consider that most of the existing Versaille rear ends are "Open" (non traction lock) and the brake calipers are cores at best.
