Blue Thunder 2x4 FE Intake
Can someone post the height dimensions from the rear center manifold base up to the carb base on the BT 2x4 Low Riser FE manifold?
I just received one and man is it tall. I know I have seen several other Cobras with BT low risers and some with med. risers that fit under a standard Cobra style scoop. How do they do it without the oil pan dragging the ground? Thanks a'bunch. Bob |
Well, I'm not sure what pan you have, but mine is just barely above the frame and if I didn't trim my bellhousing it would be below. I have a MR and the top of my Stellings and Hellings is about 1/4 in from the hood. I haven't installed my K&N filters because I'm going to have to widen and lengthen the hood scoop hole. When this is done, the filters will stick up though the hood scoop, I hope. I'm not 100% sure the rear filter has enough clearance. It's going to be close.

FE 2x4 Blue Thunder manifold
I am running a cast alum. "Cobra" pan that is just an inch above the crossmember. What brand intake are you using? As I said in my first post, the low riser I just received is so tall it won't fit under the hood scoop. At first I thought it might be a medium riser but was told no, it was a low riser and that the Blue Thunder LR is just tall. Doesn't make much sense to me but some people would say that's normal!
Do you know if there are different heights of low risers out there? I know the OEM FOMOCO model is fairly thin in height. Thanks again for your input. |
On my manifold, a BT medium riser 2x4, I measure 6.25 inches from the bottom, or underside of the manifold to the base , underside, of the carb. Hope this helps.

I have an Armando Custom pan which is just like the Aviad (sp?) pans. When I say the pan just above the frame I'm talking about less than a 1/4 in. (it does slope a little though). I will measure when I get home and post the depth on my intake.

Hey Guys,
Thought I had already given the measurements on my BT LR manifold but I see I didn't. It measures 6.75" bottom center of rear to carb base and 5" bottom center of front to carb base. The OEM low riser I have (1x4) is about 3" bottom center of rear to carb base and1.5" bottom center of front to carb base. I guess I will just have to return the beautiful new BT intake and resort to a used OEM 2x4 manifold. There must be a Shell Valley guy out there with an FE and dual quads on a BT manifold, right? That's the guy I need to talk to. Thanks fellas, Bob |
