I use the clear plastic, adhesive backed stuff that about any auto paint supply should have. Believe mine is 3M. Easy to cut, easy to apply, and is practically invisible. Does good job and is pretty easy to remove using a heat gun or even a hair drier. My 2¢ worth.

I make shields out of aluminum, the ones I've seen made from stone are heavy and hard to bolt on. :LOL:
