RCR FORD GT (not gt40
Is RCR building the FORD GT replica, like the 05/06.
I was told there was a build site somewhere.

Their name is "Race Car Replicas" - why would they build replicas of a street car?
Is it possible whoever advised you that RCR is building Ford GT replicas confused those with RCR's Superlite GT-R - it's bigger than a GT40, so quite possible. The Superlite is 42" high vs the 2005-06 GT at 43" tall. Wheelbase is the same for both at 106.7". The Superlite is slightly wider and shorter - but 900 lbs lighter!
Check out the Superlite GT-R at Superlite GT-R

A very nice build of a Superlite GT-R - it's going to be spectacular when finished.

I don't know why they would do it but they kinda did.

I think I can help answer that question as I'm building one now. I have done a lot of cobras and 3 gt40s. I tried something new with the SLC race car from Race Car Replicas. I am tired of the vintage look but the SLC looked a little wild for me. The GTR is like a Ford GT only beefier. Just look at the Robertson Racing GT. I think there is a place for this car given that the original cars are priced between 300 and 400K. If I had an original I would actually by one of these to play on the track with vs. risking a real investment. The Ford GT is not just a street car, its a very expensive collectible that is going up in price everyday. The GTR is a way for guys like me to enjoy the lines without the giant cash outlay. Same as a cobra replica.

Yes, it certainly does look a lot like the 2005-06 GTs, though a 900 pound weight saving against them is pretty significant.

Thank you Mr. Lampe. My running buddy has a 06 Ford GT, and he is thinking of building what you are building for exactly the same reason. Yes, the RCR is a replica of a street car, not a race car. I think its so cool. I am really enjoying your build. Can't wait to you get the bullet in and fired up. Should be a real screamer.

If you have any questions just shoot me a note. It is, however, not a replica of the street car but a replica of the Robertson racing GT. It really makes no difference to me but I believe it is an important distinction with RCR and there relationship with Ford. I think if they where side by side you would really see the difference. I'm sure we will see these on the track as well as the street but that will be up the individual builder.
