New Thought

Here is a new scenerio.......Lets say you go for the amnesty program, but when the DMV does all it's magic calculations on your reporting of the construction of said vehicle it comes to a dollar amount that exceeds the owners ability to pay at that time. DMV does not take payments, and once you start the process you can't just stop and say opps I made a mistake. Not all Cobra owners have a deep pocket......as some outsiders think. The big price was in the beginning, now because of someone else another huge price is lingering ............

If you start the process, but cannot finish it (for whatever reason), then I guess:

1. Your title will be null/void, which will prevent you from selling your Cobra with a title. You will only be able to sell it with a bill-of-sale.
2. Given that the program is for "amnesty" I highly doubt that your local DA will pursue you on possible fraud and/or tax evasion charges.

I can only imagine that the DMV will put your car's title in "limbo" while they wait for you to complete (pay) or cancel (sell) the process.

I'm not an expert or professional on this subject, just another one with an opinion.

Good luck,
Randy...

Since you know what the car cost to buy or build you should be able to figure out what the registration is going to be. Figure 8.75% sales/use tax and about $200 in other fees.
