WA 5585 Retitle Success

Just wanted to let everyone know the 5585 retitle barrier has been broken. Got a WSP inspection at Bellevue. Nice inspector, only checked the VIN and filled out form with year and met custom vehicle classification. Got my registration and temporary collector vehicle plates today at the local license office. Titled as 1966 Ford GT40. You do sign a form attesting that the vehicle is not a daily driver. This has been a very long road. Thanks to all of you!

Title/reg / emissions

I am looking at a Sebring that is currently titled as a 89 Ford. I am told i need to run it thru emissions, according to Kerry at WA dot. with out cats and with a 4bbl I'm pretty sure it will fail, so am having a shop do some digging befor i purchase. your thoughts, advise?
It's an 89 Sebring Healey Classic Rdsr Kit.
thanks

Depends on what county you live in. I think the King, Pierce and Snohomish counties on the West side are the only counties that require smog. I live in Whatcom County and no smog was required. All in Washington State, where the water and air are clean, most of the time....

I'm not familiar with a Sebring. Strange how it's titled as a Ford. Is it a replica of a 1960's model Austin Healey? If so you could retitle it under the new Custom Car Bill #5585. Read it here:

http://apps.leg.wa.gov/documents/bil.../5585-S.PL.pdf

Any replica of a vehicle over 30 years ago is eligible. No emission tests ever. One time collector vehicle plates, but restricted use.
If you don't want to go this route you fail the emissions test, and call up Kerry for a waiver. Considering your 89' title you would only have to do this twice before you are past the 25 year limit on WA emission testing.

Swift
the Sebring is a Healey 3000 clone. Not sure why, but it is registered as a Ford (doner). I called Leslie at WaDot, was told i must go emissions even with collector plate.
Kerry indicated there were options if failing emissions, so it is a bit conflicting. I'll study the link you refer to. If the waiver is not a big deal then I would like to go that route as it is close to 25 yrs old anyway.

move east

move across the border into Idaho You can title it as the year and body that it most closely resembles and only have to meet the requirements for that year. 32 Ford roadster , fiberglass, body, new chassis is registered as a 32 ford.
