Registering a new "1965" Backdraft in Georgia

I live in a Clean Air county so want to ensure there are no surprises.

If I buy a new, zero-mile Backdraft, I am told I get a title that says "1965."

What are my options/requirements as far as title, tags?

I sure would like to find a way to avoid paying 6.6% tax.

You should add "Legally". Toys get taxed too. You're lucky at 6.6%. It's 8.75% here on all purchases - wrench at home depot or Toyota. Or Backdraft. All the same.

A fella I asked this question of who has a lot of experience here says that if the title says 1965 Georgia will assign a value of $100 to the vehicle and charge me 6.6% of that -- $6.60. That. Would. Be. Awesome.

That'd be nice. Here in TN, mine's registered as '65. Still had to pay tax on the sales receipt.

That's the way it worked for me in Colorado. Got a 5 year registration for $35 but had to pay sales tax on the purchase price.

You may be able to get an emissions "non conforming" waiver for your car (not available in the past):

Try to reinvent the wheel in Georgia and you could ultimately be fined more than the taxes, in addition, the car could be seized. Yes, really.
