Ny registration/title help
I’m in the planning stages for my next build, either a type 65 or GT40. Anyway I was wondering if anyone knows how NY gives a year for the title of a kit car/custom build? Do they go by the year of the engine? Wondering about the new NYS emissions laws and if the go buy the date of the engine I will start looking for a 65 or 66 block to build instead going new. I looked on NYS website but not much help.
Also wondering if anyone has or is building a type 65 or GT40 in the lower Hudson Valley area. I need to go see each one to make up my mind!
Thanks,
Pat

We have helped several people go through the NYS process. Not hard, it does take a few weeks and DO NOT TRY to bullsh!t the DMV people.
Feel free to contact me for help. Just went today to the Vehicle Safety Inspection with an SPF MK II Cobra that passed easily because we told the truth!
We do provide the service at a fee if you don't want to go through the process yourself.

BTW, the car will be year of manufacture, i.e., the SPF MK II we did today is a "2022 Custom" so forget "1965 Shelby" or other stuff.

Thanks, I didn’t see the replies. So if NY titles it as a 2022 wouldn’t you need to meet all safety inspections required for 2022 including smog? Would they say anything about no cats or OBD?

No, using a "vintage" or crate engine deletes the OBD/Cat requirements.
