Thanks for the link. I received an email response from SEMA this morning that they would send a legislative alert message, and shortly after I received the alert.

Please support!

All that does is solicit people to send emails. What you need is a statement from a SEMA exec supporting this and explaining WHY this legislation would mirror regulations in other areas and give them some templates to choose from.

Campaign donations to the legislators that actually vote on the bill sometimes helps.;)

Thanks for the guidance. I responded to SEMA requesting a public endorsement / support for the proposed bill.

Yeah...I may be willing to donate, AFTER the bill is passed. :)

Hey Tony. The public hearing was held on Feb 15th. I was traveling that day, so I submitted written testimony since I could not participate live.

The DMV commissioner raised concerns that really weren't relevant to the proposed bill, which Dave from the CT Council of Car Clubs was able to address verbally. It will be interesting how the testimonies & responses were received by the committee and next steps.

I periodically check the cga website, no changes and the vote tally still isn't completed.

Disappointing, only a few CT replica owners submitted testimony.

I reached out to my Rep last week, who said he would follow up with the transportation committee on status.

Interesting thing is I submitted written testimony through the SEMA Action Network as well as other people I know and it did not appear to be included in the hearing at all.

I was notified today, via my Rep’s coordinator, bill is a no-go. I’ll ask why and what can be potentially modified for next year, but I guess it’s dead for 2023.
Unfortunately HB 5971 did not make it out of committee this year. Yesterday was the Transportation Committee’s deadline, and this was not one of the bills they moved forward with. This isn’t to say it can’t be proposed again in future years, but it does not appear to be moving any further this year.

I wish I had better news for you, but sometimes a bill gets submitted again over several sessions as it picks up steam before eventually being passed.

Killed by the tax assessors lobby. They would be supporting legislation to INCREASE revenue, not DECREASE it.

Redfish 03-21-2023 07:22 PM

Frig, no kidding. I wouldn’t be surprised.

Well, supposedly for 2024, cars will be assessed based on MSRP, instead of market value. Kit invoice = MSRP, 2024 is my is year. I’m sure they will find a loophole to screw me.

In the meantime, my FFR may or may not remain a ‘barn find’.

I think without tons of support from the members of sema - not sema itself, it's just one ,- it won't go anywhere
