South Carolina Registration
What is the current state of Replica, kit car registration in SC?
Is there a DMV site for SC? I also need info on a ferry permit or temp registration for transporting a car bought in SC to drive to New York.
Any help or info appreciated.
Thanks

SCDMV is the website and it has the forms you will need. Is the car titled now? No ferry permit needed that I know of. What did you buy? chuck

I got my title and tags last week in South Carolina. I had to pay $300.00 sales tax, $35.00 for title. then went and got ins. for $92.00 a yr. then paided county taxes $39.00 then went and got the tag for $20.00. car is resg. as a 1966 cobra replica.

Thanks Chuck.
Yes, the car I'm contemplating is titled as a 2004, but exempt from emissions according to the seller. This is one of the issues that concerns me. I just completed the whole "replica, kit car" registration process on 1 of my cars in NY and although cumbersome, wasn't really too bad. My SPF is now legally registered and titled as a 1999 Custom, emissions exempt. I think that I'll then have to do the same process for this car. I also wanted to pick up the car and possibly drive it home to NY; but since I don't want to pre-register the car without the proper NY Custom registration stickers and tags, how can I drive it home?

Dusty and other SCers...
To clarify, you simply fill out Form 400 and then go to the office and pay the fees, then get insurance, then pay county taxes? Is there a physical inspection of the car? If you live in 2 states and the car is kept elsewhere, do they need to see it in person?
Thanks

While this question is old, I would like an answer to the above question.
