Morgester: What is the status of the amnesty package? Or is the state focusing on other issues right now?

The amnesty program was signed into law (Assembly Bill 619). http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/registration-forum/91913-california-amnesty-passes.html I believe that SB 232 was a bill focused on eliminating the cap of 500 SB100 certs per year. The two DMV's I've been to don't seem to know anything about it. They weren't real helpful and indicated the current registration was ok. So how would one go about "correcting" one's registration to SPCN, assuming they have the paperword to support an SPCN? Get a VIN confirmation first? Are there any steps published anywhere? Apologies if there is a good checklist or procedure published somewhere, I just can't seem to find it. Thanks |

Thanks, I understand the SB100 process. It seems to come up short when your car is already registered--hence the question about the amnesty process. How it is registered now is going to remain my business until all this is straightened out. Thanks |

My understanding is that you can walk into a DMV office, tell them (for example) "I think that my registration is not correct" and they should no how to guide you through process (it's and amnesty program). Talk to some fellow Cobra owners and find out which DMV office is has the most knowledgeable people in your are (for example in the South SF Bay Area it's the Santa Clara office). Understand if you don't want to discuss the specifics in a public forum, but I can't help if I don't have the facts. Why do you think your registration is not correct when the DMV is telling you it is. PM or email if you want. Again, I'm no expert....just know what I know through osmosis. :D |
