Club Cobra - Explained - The new Class system for RunNGun.us 2013

For 2013 we have refined the class structure just a bit. We are hoping that this new system more closely coordinates with our points system, gives all drivers a better chance at winning trophies, and promotes more to attend and participate.

Basically, the overall idea is that if you have some success within your class - you have a shot at winning big. For the Classes and corresponding Run Groups it's important to know that you will be competing against similar cars and drivers with similar experience.

For our event there are 3 Run Groups.

Street = Novice Drivers on Street tires
Prepared = Intermediate Drivers on Racing Tires
Pro = Advanced Drivers on Racing Tires

The first 6 classes on our grid are exclusively for Cobras, Daytonas, replicas and vintage cars. The first 3 Classes are for Small Block Cars - 289/302/351 based engines with Chevy engines accepted. This may represent a change over past years. Final cubic inches is not a determining factor - engine block is.

Classes 4/5/6 are for Big block Cars - FE and 460 based engines with BBC engines accepted.

Classes 7/8/9 are for what we are calling Small Chassis Cars and/or cars with V4s/V6s. This class will consist of Stalkers, Lotus, Lotus replicas, etc.

Classes 10/11/12 are for what we are calling Domestic Muscle. That's going to consist of Camaro, Mustang, Challenger, Corvette, Viper, TransAm, GTO, CTS-V, etc. If we get any Porsche or BMW participants they will end up in one of these classes.

Class 13 is our Unlimited Class. This is for fully prepared race vehicles and not licensed for the street. You must run in the pro (advanced) run group. There are always a number of vehicles that fall into this category and we will be excited to see these guys battle it out for times, car prep, and durability.

Class 14 is our RNG Experience Group. This is a great way to test the waters and get a taste for track experience. You'll get plenty of run sessions, classroom time, and instruction - plus all of the other amenities offered at RunNGun.

For all classes - power adders are not a determining factor. However, depending on your tires and skill level, you'll probably end up in a higher class. For our tire definition - street tires are DOT compliant and with a treadwear rating of 201 and above. Race tires are DOT compliant and with a treadwear rating of 200 and under.
