Basic TECH Req for Run and Gun
I have received several PM's and emails concering tech at this years Run and Gun. Here are some of the Key things our techs will be looking at:
1. Working Brake Lights 2. Firm Brake pedal 3. Catch can or puke tank for radiator over flow 4. Wheel Bearings (no movement or minimal movement while exerting side to side force and top to bottom force by hand) 5. Rear view mirror 6. Double Carb springs 7. No visable leaks 8. All loose articles removed from your car 9. Positive battery post must be taped or covered 10. Track worthy tires (street tires must meet or exceed 3/32" tread, Slicks must have adequate rubber remaining). 11. No loose parts Basically, common sense precautions will allow your car on the track. But if you have specific questions don't hesitate to contact one of us. Clois Harlan |
NUMBER 4 and 11 on list are there especially for DEAN LAMPE!

No helmet required? Do you have to pass the broomstick test?

Clois' Tech short list is implied for the car you bring. Refer to Run N gun web site to download all FORMS. But since you mentioned Helmets, it is a good subject for this forum. Well if you plan to come and run on the track for events you will need one. That has been one of the biggest issues every year. Drivers bring a motocycle helmet which is not approved. Spend the few extra bucks to get a Snell SA 90 or newer required rated Helmet. This is for your BRAIN! Motorcycle Helmets are not Fire Retardent and are by design not the same material to protect your BRAIN during an AUTO CRASH, SA 90 or newer are for AUTO RACING, yes just like the PROs. We spend tons of money on our cars to make them go fast and be pretty, Spend the few bucks to buy the best safety equipment.
