Wiper switch replacement

Since the original style wiper switch no longer seems to be available, has anyone found a replacement switch that will work as the original?

I looked at some (in a catalog) made by Cole Hersee that may work, but I can't tell for sure. Any clues what to look for? They have several available, 4 tabs, 5 tabs, 7 tabs for the two speed without dymanic braking and no push-to- wash.

Of course, if anyone has a line on the original style switch I'd be up for that also...

Here are the switches I've been looking at- any idea which one might work with the two speed MG wiper motor?

Thanks,
Bob

Hey Bob I think the SPF one is the ticket.

Here's what I have for wipers: http://www.bpnorthwest.com/.sc/ms/dd/ee/6519/5900288

Supposed to "park" the wipers on off too.

bob, i just went through this last year with my kellison. ultimately you will need to know if the MG motor has a park circuit inside of it or not. the cole herse line has both switches with or without dynamic park. dynamic park means the motor has a park circuit inside of it. get a MG wiring diagram and this will lead you to how the motor is wired. most vehicles including british leyland use dynamic park. the link you have in your post is fine but go to cole herses web site and look at their catolog it is a bit more comprehensive........good luck,

fred

Fred,
Correct me if I'm wrong because the way I understood the dynamic parking is that it turns the motor into a generator by using a relay or internal wiring to help slow the motor at the park setting.
Motors with non-dynamic parking simply have a portion of the travel just before the park location that has power to get to park, then breaks the circuit at the park location.

This is the reason I'm not sure which switch to use as I'm not sure of the switch internal wiring compared to the motor wiring. I had a wiring diagram at one time, but seem to have misplaced it....

Which switch did you ultimately end up with and which motor are you using?

Bob

Bob, this is a pretty good little article that I ran across recently on the MG Wiper Motor, Auto Park circuit, etc. http://iainseven.wordpress.com/2009/...-motor-wiring/

the short answer is no......usually a dynamic park is a combination of a mechanical and electrical circuit. there is an interrupt contact in the mechanism when the switch is turned to off. this off position of the switch sends power to the interrupt so at a certain position the circuit is open turning off the power inside of the wiper motor. so a dynamic park switch will have a lead that is hot all the time going to the motor, its the motor that opens the circuit to stop the wiper at the same position everytime.

i have a mazda RX-2 motor and mazda RX-2 wiper transmission. i used switch part number 75228-03 which is dynamic park with washer.
