jag axle identification
Hi all
I am building a cobra kit from scratch and my idea was to purchase 2 complete axles from a jaguar and build the chasis around them. The aim is to use the same geometry and engineering. Sizes seam to be fine perhaps i need to order specific rims but that is manageable. I have 3 concerns. 1. I need to service these axles but I don`t know from where to find the info to start with. how can i identify the YOM and ratios for the axle? The original springs are much too strong, can anyone suggest the ideal spring strengths? 2. I need spare parts, any one can suggest of a couple of good suppliers? preferably from Europe. Thanks ET |

Based on the question I would seriously consider finding a roller or incomplete build ,or a kit that someone has given up on.

Axles are just specific by length for various models. Length can be changed if necessary and uprated at the same time. Ratio should be on one of two tags under the rear cover bolts. BPL is British Posi Lock which is preferable as it is limited slip. You can hold one axle still and try spinning the other by hand. If they have BPL it will try and spin the other side in the same direction. Ratio is given either as a number like 3.54 or the teeth numbers on pinion and crown wheel like 19/70 is 19 divided by 70 is 3.33 to 1.
