A proper car for a Chevy engine
Just had to put this out there! :)
I bought the engine used from a friend who built it for his 83 Camaro. It's the anemic 305 but has been mildly hopped up. 9.5 pistons, nice (not radical) cam, aluminum intake, new Vortec heads. I added the inexpensive 625cfm carb and off the self shorty headers and side pipes. I paid $600 for the engine with all accessories, fly wheel and clutch. My friend had only put 1200 miles on it. He pulled it to put in an LS engine. I estimate HP to be around 270 at the flywheel. Even so in my 1912lb (with all fluids and fuel) its quick enough to be really fun. It has a nice idle and great throttle response. Surprising, but true. :) Having Fun. I'm going for a drive! https://i.ibb.co/tM8SNgr/questcheetah34frontmed.jpg https://i.ibb.co/mNpw32y/questcheetahsiderearmed.jpg https://i.ibb.co/8sHP6TR/ebayenginebay.jpg |
Great job John!
Cheers Greg |
Beautiful, John! I can't help but wonder what a nice FE would look like stuffed in that engine bay!

Cheetah right? perfect!

I agree! Perfect!

John,
Nice to see you have the Cheetah out and about. A perfect car for a chevy engine. Take care and enjoy. Jim |
I love the looks of the car. I always liked the Cheetah. You have endless options on the SBC engine, from frugal cost, to excellent MPG, to gas guzzling insane power to weight ratio. No doubt the SBC was one of the greatest engine designs of all time.
Buzz, you saw a pot of $hit and a stick and could stop yourself. :p The Cheetah deserves a Chevy and should not be defiled with a Ford engine, if at all possible, IMHO. |
Maybe Buzz just wanted an FE to anchor his boat? At least that would be one thing it would be reliable doing, other than leaking oil.
|
Thanks for the comments. I went for a nice drive in it today. Having fun.

Re: John's latest creation - I think he absolutely nailed it in terms of creating a plausibly drivable version of the Cheetah without compromising the original car's spectacular good looks! |
