Hey mloy

One of my many books on Cobras states that the frame rails are 17 inches apart. Is this the space between the frame rails, or measured from the center line of each frame rail?

The drawings I have state 17.5" center to center on the main tubes. This would translate to 14.5" measured between them.
I've heard different dimensions flying around everything from your stated 17", 17.25", 17.5", 17.125", etc. I went by what was written on the paper drawings I purchased as I've learned (don't ask me why) that they are more correct than I gave them credit for.

Hope this helps,

Jay,
The pin holes for the saddle centers on our jig for the frame rails are at 444 mm center/center per a measurement
verified by the welder that I made at the Surrey shop in 1971 and verified when I was there for resto parts and a LOTUS shop visit.
You can force the 0.75" pins and saddles during the welding stress back and forth a few mm in dimension, so no biggie if it varies, and AC using gas welding didn't control it any better in the early 60's I assure you.

444mm/25.4 = 17.48"

Close enough for me!

Thanks for the confirmation grumpy!
