Brake Hats for Original Style Suspensions

I need some help on brakes. Let's stick to the front for now...

As many of you know, I am building a 289 Leaf Spring Chassis with original style suspension. I am using AMP original style uprights and AMP pin drive hubs. When I last talked to George Petrus about steering arms, he recommended the competition ones and said to use Wilwood calipers, 3.5" mounting lug (superlites), 11.75 x .81 rotor. That is all well and good and I can find those parts, what I am having trouble finding is a rotor hat that will work. Funny thing is, when I asked George about them, he said to send him the specs and he would have to mock one up. Do I need to go with a custom hat or is there a source that would have them? I've seen that setup on the Kirkham cars and my guess is there are more than a few running a similar style setup.

Any help or guidance would be mucho appreciated.

Mark: Mike McClusky at McClusky Ltd can probably answer your question. I installed a pair of Wilwood stock car calipers on my 289 cobra.... using the stock rotors. The only modification that I had to make was to split the calipers and mill the mating surfaces to work with the stock thickness rotors. It appears that you are using stock uprights... so I think that the solution should be pretty straight forward. If you want, I can give Mike a call to see what he recommends.

I used the Wilwood Dynalites on the front with vented rotors on XKE uprights. Made my own hats to get the proper spacing for the rotor, and adapter brackets to fit the caliper.

Hopefully the picture will come out.
