steering bracket
Posted by Three Peaks on 05-24-2005 09:04 AM: Nick, Where does a guy get these brackets? I didn't see them on the CR prints. Do they come with the R&P or can they be sourced somewhere? TP, steering bracket is on the CR drawings, but named "sway bar" bracket #21. Dom |
Dominick,
Thanks, I finally figured out that the Cobra Restorer's drawings are a bit, ahhhh....... unreliable? ;) I do have the steering rack mounting brackets mounted on this frame, but I had mis-identified a part of the steering rack in Mick's picture. All is well now, except for........... |
carry on, ask...
it took me 2 years to get to where I am now (in regards to the original chassis), if I can help you will only need 1 3/4 years... ;-) and I really thought there is some money to make ... maybe next year. dominik |
If some of these guys were a little closer, I would bribe them with wine, women, or whatever it took to get them to come over and help me out with a few of the issues I've run into! ;)
Luckily, I bought a mostly-constructed frame- then decided to make a few changes since I'm not going with the Jag rear, original suspension pieces, or big block FE engine. I'm down to the "easy" parts now like the bird cage, fuel tank mounting, and suspension setup- if my busy suspension guy can find the time to finish up on the design and fabrication- Trust me, I'll take any help I can get here! :):) Thanks, Bob |
Hey Bob Dom is the guy who provided me with the steering brackets you saw in my picture. Hi Dom we both know his suspension guy..........

Dom,
Capetown, eh? I wish I had more time to spend having a sundowner on the hilltop overlooking the ocean when I was there a couple years ago. (memory is failing me). Maybe I'll get back someday and look you up. Bob |
Bob,
whenever you are here, let me know! to refeshen your memory goto: www.capetownskies.com I moved from Germany end of 2001. cheers, Dominik |
Table mountain! That's it!
I was hunting there last trip and spent most of my time in the Pretoria guest house and up in the Limpopo Province looking into Botswana. Loved it over there, but want to bring my wife next time and spend some time in Capetown and in the Wine country. Absolutely loved the wines there- they are the equal to our wines here in Oregon- which IMHO is saying a lot! Tip a cold Kastle for me!- Bob |
.dxf file
Bob,
nice trip! I prefer Windhuk beer. If this forum would allow to upload .dxf files I could send you guys the one for the steering bracket, which is quite a pain to make. Dominik |
Hi Dom, those DXF files copy easily into other formats like the windows one I sent it back to you in. Let me know if you want a hand with that. I believe Bob is sorted for the moment ( on this anyway )I just confused the issue with a crappy photo of mine (yours).
|
Dominik,
you could change the extension from .dxf to .txt. Then who ever downloads it can change it back to open it. ;) |
hey Kris,
that is an old "apple" trick! never thought about doing it to a PC... ;-) Dominik |
