Tube question

I have asked this question in my local area and was advised by one of your members to ask it over here.
I am not building a car from scratch but I do admire what you guys are doing and find myself checking out your galleries often. Anyway here goes.

I dont know what the part is actually called but I have a question regarding the 2 tubes/braces that run from the transmission tunnel behind the dash and to the body work under windscreen.

Question 1 = What is the diameter of this tube?
Question 2 = How far is the gap between the dash panel (at bottom) and the tube?

Thanks in advance.

Cowl support tubing

1) 3/4" OD tube

2) The tubes shoot towards the centerline of the main rails, so at the bottom they should be 22" I believe.

Do the tubes run directly (contacting) behind the panel that your gauges are mounted to?
Or is there a gap between this panel and the tubes?

They do not touch the dash panel. I do not have a car near me, but I estimate that they are probabaly about 2" or so forward of the flange at the bottom of the panel.

Maybe somebody can measure and chime in here. :)

It is 1 1/2" back from the dash hoop at the bottom (centre to centre) and it goes to the centre of the dash hoop as Kris said. Scaling off the drawing that puts it about 2 1/2" back from the brace tubes and the dash top tube. Yet another nice pic of the topic from Ron gives you a good visual if you don't have the dash hoop to reference.
