E-brake lever

Anyone know what make that the handbrake lever was on original? I think the Kirkham uses same as mounting appears same as on Cobra restorer plans.MGB??

Hey Alfy, I believe it is Series I XKE. Definetely not MG. Let me know if you can find one to confirm it for us. The Lokar that some of the lads are using looks pretty good but I want the original look without a $400 price tag.

I found the outfit that is supposed to make the ebrake handle for Shelby.

Try R&R Specialties- 1-423-663-9816
They are in Tennessee. I think the price was in the $225 range? Let me know if that is still accurate if you call.

I tried the MGB lever and liked the looks.......and price $8.
Had to "modify" mounting but so what else is new with this build.
Used the universal e-brake cable kit from Lokar and special levers for my C4 Corvette rear.
Sounds like Bob might be on to something.

I believe the originals were from the Jag XKE.

I bought this reproduction from R&R Specialties about 2 years ago and it was under $200.

They were real helpful. They sent me a jpeg of the product and I placed the order for it and a grab handle over the phone. Very smooth transaction.

John,
That picture looks like it is just the handle? Is the ratcheting/cable attachment piece included in the package or do you order them separately? How does it mount on the original style mount bracket?

That picture has the ratcheting mechanism pictured and included.
I recently installed one exactly like that on my NAF. In OEM fashion it bolts to a bracket attached to the toploader 4 speeed tranny. I was not able to do that and had to machine a few parts to make it work while bolted to the bottom side of the fiberglass tunnel. It took some serious planning, a little welding and cutting on the lower parts of the mechanism. The metal is VERY hard, as in seriously heat treated!

Sorry John, I just can't see it on my computer. That is just the information I was looking for.

Thanks,
Bob

Rick... Thanks for the comment. I have been away from my computer all morning and missed Bob's question.

Rick is right. This is one unit, handle and rachet that is secured to the mounting bracket of the chassis (or the trans). I will try to post a pic or two of the rachetting mechanism but probably until late tonight.:(

OBTW Rick... sorry I think I just stole your "Thank you"

Here are a few views of the ratchet mechanism. It really is pretty nice, IMO.
