Need source for custom-made race car windshields?
Looking for a race car builder or scratch builder who might know of a good source who makes race car windscreens / windshields.
I'm working on a ground up custom car and need to either make a windscreen and frame from scratch, but due to time constraints, would like to locate someone who makes them professionally. Will need the frame, bracing/brackets, Lexan windshield and all; based on specs I can provide. Even an older 40s-50s aerospace vintage look would be even better. Thanks ahead of time for your responses. Any ideas on sources? |
Have you talked to the folks at ERA? They built for one for my car (sorry I don't have any current pics) The aluminum work is great but I can't comment on the plastic/lexan material used. It certainly look period correct though.

Hi, I'm really looking for someone who specializes in custom windscreens for vintage race cars; like old Can-Am Race cars. This is not for an ERA product or Cobra, so I know ERA would not mess with this. It's like a Lister, but wider, about 12" wider and about 4.5" lower than a Cobra and different shape. Thanks though.

Howdy Duane,
For the custom lexan/plexi contact: Aircraft Windshield Company (562) 430-8108 10871 Kyle St Los Alamitos, CA 90720 They do a lot of work for both original vintage race cars and replicas. They may also have some recommendations on who can do any custom frame work. Cheers, Alan |
Alan,
Thanks for the tip. I will give them a call in the morning. Duane |
